Throw Back Thursday-A New Addition

November 10, 2016 by Nanci Carlton 1 Comment

Do you ever go back and reminisce the day your children were born?  I do frequently as those memories are so special and dear to my heart.  They take me back to an indescribable place.  A place where there is great joy, happiness and peace.  It’s a time where I have no other care in the world but to make sure that I am giving them the most love and nurturing as I possibly can.  I have had the honor of welcoming FIVE beautiful, healthy babies into this world and with each one it was just as special as the first.  I am so grateful my three beautiful daughters and two sons chose ME as their mother.  They truly are an incredible blessing and I cherish each of them dearly.

Are you wondering why I am sharing all this with you?  Why I am pouring my heart out to you about my children, my thoughts, my feelings?  Well, you see  I have a confession to make…I have not “scrapbooked” a layout of anything, NOTHING, no memories, no celebrations or dreams for over SIX years!!!  Can you believe that?  YES I SAID SIX YEARS!  This is heartbreaking to me.  I feel horrible, guilty and honestly a hypocrite.  I have been so busy creating layouts for my business the past six years that I haven’t MADE the time to print off my photos and scrapbook them.  I have not made it a priority.  Sad, I know.  I have been teaching to all of you the importance of celebrating life and leaving a lasting legacy through the art of scrapbooking but I haven’t even been doing it myself until NOW!!  I have finally broke the spell!!   I have printed off photos AND I have added them to a few layouts.  Granted, I’ve been doing a lot of things in life…like being a full-time mom to my five busy children, a supportive farmers wife, a business woman,  a loving daughter, sister and friend.  (Or at least I like to think I have been)  Just like YOU, you have been busy too!  We are ALL busy, we all have important lives, we all get caught up in the hustle and bustle.  BUT we need to make time to scrapbook!  We need to scrapbook our life, to leave our families with memories of how we felt about them and to take pictures of our lives and document them!!  Here is one of the first layouts I have finally completed!!!  It is of my son Luke, who was born almost three years ago.

baby-boy-layout-a-new-additionI loved how it turned out and how looking at these pictures instantly takes me back to the day he was born and how special it was.  Being able to look at this layout and have it take me back in time, where I can feel all those wonderful feelings again is something that I want to experience time and time again.  And it also felt so great to share this layout with him, he was thrilled to see himself as a baby, a newborn, a little person that he identifies as a baby.  To watch him look at all the elements of this layout was so heartwarming.  He LOVED the tractor and had to comment on the tires.  (Notice I added copper brads to the center of the tires)  He loved the barn, the cow and associates it with our cows we have and feed everyday. baby-boy-close-up-tractor He even noticed his outfit he was wearing had tractors on it and they were just like daddy’s tractors.  He was excited to hear that daddy picked out that outfit especially for him when we knew he was going to be a boy.  He loves looking at this layout and seeing daddy holding his little hand and hearing that some day he will grow up big and strong just like daddy.  We always tell him just how special that day was and how special he is to us and that he will always be our little man.  I love all the sweet baby boy sentiments that I’ve featured on the left side of the layout.  They represent a new baby has arrived and how precious life is.  I also adore the title ‘Baby’, it is so sweet, just as every newborn is when they come into this big world.  This layout captures everything incredible about a new bundle of joy!

baby-boy-close-up-titleI hope today I have inspired you to take time out of your busy life and document YOUR SPECIAL LIFE.  Take the time to reflect on what is important to you and what you want your family to remember because once you are gone, these memories are what will be there for them to reflect on.  There is comfort in that and I want to leave that for my family and for many generations to come.  I want them to know who we were and what I was feeling and experiencing during those life celebrations.  I don’t want them to ever forget how loved and special they were to me.

close-up-baby-boy-layout-1Thank you for letting me share our little man with you, our sweet bundle of joy, our new addition!!  (Even if it was three years ago)  You need to start sometime, somewhere, right?  My goal is to print out pictures once a week and scrapbook them.  I want to tell my story through the art of scrapbooking and I want to leave a lasting legacy.  I want to get my photos off my phone and computer and get them on paper.  I hope that you will join me in this challenge and encourage me to take time out to appreciate all these wonderful memories and really reflect on what I was feeling during that time.  My hope is to share with you a new layout every Thursday.  So please stop by every week and check up on me.  Send me a message and make sure that I keep my promise and I will do the same for you.  If you are interested in purchasing one of these baby boy or baby girl layout kits, please visit our website for more details!  Until then Happy Creating!!
