Happy Beautiful Day, New Kits Have Arrived

July brings two new gorgeous kits and we think you are going to be so HAPPY!  This month we are featuring the beautiful Spoonful of Soul Collection by Jillibean Soup.  We had such a great response from our May kits that we wanted to bring another Jillibean Soup collection to our gallery.

This collection has been therapeutic for me as I created these beautiful kits back in April,  just a few weeks after I lost my mom.  She was an avid quilter and had made over 25 quilts that she gave away as gifts to her loved ones.  Her love and passion for quilting inspired me as I created this months layout kit in her honor.

I chose to create this months layout by cutting squares of pattern paper and strategically  placing them into what looks like a quilt block.  My mom often asked me for advise on how to arrange the patterns of color on her quilts but she always had a knack for designing something unique and special.  She didn’t really need my help but I always liked when she asked.  I will miss our days of being crafty together.

This collection has the most beautiful colors and patterns and I fell in love with the pea pod die cuts.  I especially was drawn to the bold sunflowers.  They were always a favorite of my moms, so I had to sprinkle a few of them here and there on the layout.

One thing that I always focus on when creating my layouts is the balance of color.  I like to make sure I have a triangular pattern of the same color that flows across my layout, this helps train the eye to flow easily across the page.
